BACK IN SCHOOL

To read; To write; To write-off the virus

Most governments around the world temporarily closed schools in an attempt to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many launched distance learning programs and planned for recovery, a phase that involves much more than reopening the gates and readmitting students. During the response, there has been opportunities for governments to improve practices and “build back better,” but decisions are being made under extreme uncertainty. In this context, education policy making is particularly difficult but will be strongest when:

(1) The covid waves are put totally in control and prevented.

(2) Vaccines are made available to every nook and cranny of the world.

(3) People are well sensitized on measures to defeat the virus.

The above mentioned three things can be achieved if scholars can cooperate with the assigned covid rules and regulations.

BACK IN SCHOOL

Life has to move on, schools have to stay open and students have to keep learning. Therefore it is important that measures be put in place to make that be. The best solution to keep students in their various learning environment while the covid waves is kept in check is to Engage communities in school reopening plans. Whilst most schools have reopened and others are making plans to, it is imperative to note that one of the biggest avenue for the covid virus to thrive and spread is in the school environment. Students can be reckless when it comes to matters relating to their health.

This is because some of them are not well sensitized as such not well aware of the magnitude of damage the pandemic has done and can more so do to the world, others do not just care because they do not feel the need to be responsible for their health status.

Here is a short brief to parents as they send their wards to school and students as they head back to school that together we can end the pandemic and the only way we can stand a chance is to observe covid preventive measures as outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and other bodies in charge of health and welfare cases. Examples of such measures are

    Maintain Social Distancing

To avoid covid 19 spread, the following social distancing methods needs be applied. The methods include quarantines; travel restrictions; and the closing of schools, workplaces, stadiums, theaters, or shopping centers. We have overcome the above listed methods, now it is left in the hands of individuals to apply. Individuals may apply social distancing methods by staying at home, limiting travel, avoiding crowded areas, using no-contact greetings, and physically distancing themselves from others.

      • Wear your face masks
Frequently wash your hands with soap and running water
      Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer,
Take a vaccine when it’s available to you.

Engaging of school communities in reopening plans will keep the consciousness alive in both parents and students and allow for a free flow of learning with minimal or no risk of the virus’s spread.
